Mevlana Legal Trust was founded by a group of senior advocates who witnessed firsthand the injustice of a two-tiered legal system—one for those who could afford representation, and another for those who could not. They asked a simple question: What if we could create a model where the wealthy paying for legal services could directly fund justice for the poor?
The model we settled on is simple: provide premium legal services to businesses and to individuals who can afford them, and direct the profits into free legal aid. Every rupee a paying client sends us is intended to go toward defending someone who cannot afford a lawyer.
The trust has not yet completed a financial year, so the above sets out how we have committed to operate rather than a record of what has already been done. Our registration status and financial position are set out in full on our transparency page.

Our trustees are responsible for the governance of the trust and for the proper use of every contribution we receive. We will name them here, in full, once the board is formally seated.
We have not yet completed a financial year, so there are no audited accounts or annual reports to show you. Our transparency page sets out exactly what we hold, what we do not, and what we commit to publishing once we have it — including the fact that we are not currently registered under Section 80G.
